What is tattoo convention etiquette?

Posted by admin on September 29th, 2009 and filed under convention information | 2 Comments »

I am going to my first tattoo convention in March in Manchster, UK and I am seriously excited! But also a bit nervous-though i’m not 100% planning to get anything done, i’m wondering what tattoo etiquette says about getting a tattoo at the time.

Will photos be banned? Any other information would be great!

Also what should I expect in regards to cost-are tattoos at convention a lot more expensive or about the same as in a tattoo parlour?

Oh and just how much am I going to love it going? lol!

You will be exposed to parts of the tattoo world you never thought possible. There are many artists out there that have dared and adventured into new realms of working ink.

In most cases you cannot get a tattoo done at a convention. At least not by the big name artists. The sessions and pieces they do there are most often prescheduled. But some of the newer and younger guys will be taking clients in. One reason for going for the new guys is in hopes of getting there skill recognized by the bigger names. But if you do happen to get one there most likely the cost will be greater. After all, there time at the convention is more valuable than there time in the shop and more costly to them. Don’t expect to be able to get a small piece done from flash while there either. Like I said above, the new guys that don’t have things scheduled for the show will be wanting to larger custom pieces.

You will be able to take as many photos as you like and maybe even buy some good art work. Most all of your very good tattoo artists are first excellent artists in general.

What plan brought up at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia favored large states?

What plan brought up at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia favored large states?

The Virginia plan… it called for one legislative house that had representation based on population

The New Jersey plan called for one legislative house that had equal representation

The Connecticut plan was a compromise. It had 2 houses. One was based on population to appease large states. That house is now the House of Representatives. The other house had equal representation. That house is now the Senate. It was made to appease small states.

What is the best Hilton Property (hampton inn, embassy suites etc) in Memphis close to convention center?

Posted by admin on September 29th, 2009 and filed under convention center | 1 Comment »

I will have a rental car, so driving or walking are both options. Also, does anyone know the cost of daily parking at the convention center?

Looks like both the Doubletree Hotel at 185 Union Ave and the Hampton Inn & Suites at 175 Peabody Place are close. Oh those, I’d probably pick the Doubletree – I’d think you could walk fairly easily and you wouldn’t have to pay for parking both at your hotel and the convention center.

Who will control the accreditation commitee at the Democratic National Convention?

Posted by admin on September 29th, 2009 and filed under national convention | 2 Comments »

The accreditation commitee decides who gets "seated" at the convention and may wind up deciding if Florida or Michigan delegates will be able to attend and vote.

The credentials committee is composed of people chosen by the state delegates (my understanding is 158 which works out to each state getting one for every 20 national convention delegates) and a small number of "at-large" members (my understanding is 25) appointed by the DNC chair.

Like the actual delegation to the convention, the committee slots are awarded to the candidates proportionately. For example, my state has three spots on the credentials committee, Obama won the state by 1%. As such, he gets two of the members on the committee and Clinton gets one from my state. To have a hard count of the numbers, you would need to go state-by-state to see how many people that state gets on the committee and then apportion that number based on the results in the state.

With 8 states still to vote, nobody has final numbers yet. However, based on the results to date, my expectation is that neither candidate will have a majority of the committee, leaving control to the appointees of Governor Dean.

More importantly, the credential committee does not make the final decision as to who gets seated. They make an inital report to the Convention of who should get seated which forms the temporary roll of the convention. If enough members of the minority of the committee objects, they can file a minority report. In that case, the Convention decides which report to accept. If there is not an agreement about this issue prior to the convention, there will be a minority report. It is only once a decision is made on the credentials report that there is a permanent roll of the convention.

Geneva convention on the rights of the child?

I believe a brief version should be given to new parents. Do you?

Or have you heard of this legislation before?

Ive heard of the U.N.s declaration of children’s rights and I think you re right but I think everyone should know about it not just parents.

How is E-waste still shipped illegally despite regulations by the Basel Convention?

Posted by admin on September 29th, 2009 and filed under convention | 1 Comment »

Even though organizations like the Basel Convention make sure that e-waste is not shipped to developing countries, it still happens. Why?

It still happens because there are jerks out there who just dont care and properly monitor these things. They may say that they "dont" ship it to other countries but ofcourse thats what they would mention. Money will always be a key factor to major companies, things will be swept under the rug if enough money is paid. Countries such as Japan and China who do recieve some of our E-Waste do pay a lot of money off the books to the companies who ofcourse do not say no. The E-Waste is being made into weapons and harmful chemicals that are certainly not good for the U.S to not realize, yet the managers and owners of the companies dont care all because of greed.
