Why are some Y/A jokers including the Constitution and the Geneva Convention in the same sentence?

Posted by admin on October 27th, 2009 and filed under geneva convention | 12 Comments »

Pretty sure terrorists don’t follow the GC nor does the Constitution apply to POWs caught on the battlefield.

Enlighten me please? I really want to know. Please don’t give me the typical knee jerk "it’s just wrong" argument.

You may not be aware that treaties ratified by Congress (the Senate) is a higher equivalent than US law. It’s in the Constitution.

EDIT: Come on children, 3 thumbs down? Are you really Americans or just ignorant?
Article VI : This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

Like it or not, when the President negotiates and 2/3 of Senators approve a treaty, it is as good as the Constitution. If you don’t like the treaty, withdraw from it as Bush did with the ABM Treaty. It looks like some conservative children got left behind.

Geneva Conventions do not list eating prisoners of war as crime?

Posted by admin on October 27th, 2009 and filed under conventions | 5 Comments »

Would having rules on not eating prisoners of war be prejudical. I notice this is not covered would it be because this is contrary to the customs of the nations which drew The Geneva Conventions up.

Perhaps this was not covered because it has happened, often! When a person is dieing for lack of food, if there is a dead body handy, people will do what they have to do to stay alive, sick as it may be, they are not hurting the dead person. It’s not personal. In Anderson-ville, during the Civil War, there were people who killed those who were too ill to fight them off & ate them. These were Union troops, not one of those who did this to another ever served one day in prison. It’s called "self preservation". It had nothing to do with any customs of those who drew up the Geneva Convention. These things usually are hushed up because we somehow seem to think that this makes us appear less human, it doesn’t, it just proves how human we are & how much we want to live.

Does anyone know about Twilight themed conventions coming up?

Posted by admin on October 27th, 2009 and filed under conventions | 2 Comments »

It doesn’t have to be Twicon, which I know is in TX, this year. I need one closer to Utah, if possible. I would like to know of conventions or Twilight themed gatherings, when and where.
Please let me know of any you know of. They don’t have to be something you buy a ticket for but they do need to have plenty of fans going to them. Let’s say the fan amount should be 50 or more.
This isn’t for fun. I’m reporting on the subject of Twilight fans. I need a place to go to talk with fans. That’s why there’s the need for 50 or more fans. I need plenty of footage.

Umm i am from Australia and we had a TwilightCon here in december, if you need footage my friends and i would be happy to donate some footage and photos. if you need details message me and i will help

Why did Maryland vote in favor of the constitution at the constitutional convention?

Posted by admin on October 25th, 2009 and filed under convention information | No Comments »

The question says it all, know that Maryland was in favor of ratifying the constitution, but i can’t find any information as to why they were in favor of it. I need facts on why Maryland specifically would ratify it, not just in general. Thanks in advance.

why should Ajmal Kasaab not be treated as prisoner of war?

Posted by admin on October 25th, 2009 and filed under convention services | 1 Comment »

after all there is a civil war going on between hindus and muslims and ajmal is a soldier caught fighting in this civil war. why should he not get all the benefit of a PRISONER of WAR under Geneva convention. and should be set free because his RIGHTS were violated he was tortured in prison by U.S. and Israeli secret service agents. which is a violation of his rights

Is there a civil war going on? Why hasn’t any side called for a UN intervention, then?
While I agree with you on the general principle, you have to realize that there’s no war unless both sides recognize it, and even then, the Geneva convention usually applies to the losing side only, what the winner does seems to be their problem. It’s sad, but that’s the way it is.
Btw, if Ajmal Kasaab was caught during the December attack in Mumbai, you have to admit that there were not many hindu militants fighting in the hotel, so it doesn’t really qualify as a war operation, no? :-)

why did rudy giuliani make fun of obama at the republican convention?

Posted by admin on October 25th, 2009 and filed under convention at | 31 Comments »

why did rudy giuliani make fun of obama at the republican convention about obama working as a community organizor and people were laughing? that just goes to show how the republicans think about lower and middle class.

here is the exact words

He worked as a community organizer. What? He worked — I said — I said, OK, OK, maybe this is the first problem on the resume.

Because he’s a Republican.

And that’s why they do.

They can’t talk about issues so they resort to chararacter assassination of their opponents.

How dare he and Sarah Palin make fun of an honorable profession?

They truly disgust me.

What cheap affordable dining is within walking distance from the Philly convention center?

I’ll be at a conference in Sept. and can’t afford to eat at the Marriott for every meal. Are there Subway Sandwiches or a coffee shop within walking distance?
