What Is This 6 Hours Of Volunteer Work To Get a Seat At The Convention About?

Posted by admin on October 27th, 2009 and filed under convention at | 8 Comments »

Obama wants people to work for 6 hours and to volunteer to help at the convention and or work communty duties in order to get a seat at the convention, what is your view on that ? Don’t you think that is just a bit out of line? If I were a Obama supporter watching the big wigs get out of LIMO’s , while I had to sell Obama campaign pins I would be a bit angry that he is so controlling over his supporters and their actions..

I agree. A preview of what can be expected under Socialism.

why did rudy giuliani make fun of obama at the republican convention?

why did rudy giuliani make fun of obama at the republican convention about obama working as a community organizor and people were laughing? that just goes to show how the republicans think about lower and middle class.

here is the exact words

He worked as a community organizer. What? He worked — I said — I said, OK, OK, maybe this is the first problem on the resume.

Because he’s a Republican.

And that’s why they do.

They can’t talk about issues so they resort to chararacter assassination of their opponents.

How dare he and Sarah Palin make fun of an honorable profession?

They truly disgust me.

what can i expect at a movie convention?

Posted by admin on October 25th, 2009 and filed under convention at | 1 Comment »

what can i expect at a movie convention? I’m attending a twilight convention tomorrow and I have no idea what to expect, what are generally going on at these things?

if it’s a big one, movie stars are there, they hand out posters of upcoming movies and sometimes dress in costume.

what kind of attention will i get at an anime convention dressed as?

Posted by admin on October 23rd, 2009 and filed under convention at | 2 Comments »

im going dressed as nariko from heavenly sword
and the next day maybe talim from soul calibur 4
im just wondering how much attention i might get
im kind of shy and not sure how i will interact with the people at a convention
i can handle attention just thought id try and find out how much to kind of be prepared.

As a self professed geek and a long time convention goer, I’m sure you’ll do fine. It would be one thing if you were going to a stamp collecting convention dressed that way (where you would obviously seem out of place), but since you’ll be at an Anime convention I’m sure there won’t be any problems at all. Especially since you won’t be alone as I’m SURE there will be others dressed up in costume too.

As for how much attention you’ll get, from my years of experience, I’ve found that people who dress up at cons always turn a few heads because the first reaction that they generate is to make you say "Wow! That person has courage to dress up!" Or "Wow! That person is really into this!" So it’s actually a reaction of admiration to a degree.

Plus, if you’re at an Anime or comic convention, those same people who are turning their heads also know "who" you’re dressed as, so being geeks themselves they want to see how close your costume actually comes to the fictional character. So then it becomes a mixture of people saluting your bravery for dressing up as well as for being creative enough to actually make a costume.

So, since you said "I can handle the attention" that’s a good thing. Don’t be surprised if people want to take your picture often (or even try to sneak a shot when you’re not looking) or if they even have you pose with them as a souvenir from having been at the convention themselves. Personally, I’ve always found that geek conventions (and I say that affectionately) have some of the coolest and most fun people around. After all, you’re there to share in a common love for something, so that geekiness translates into "how" you can show your love for something (be it Anime or comics or whatever).

So good luck and just have fun with dressing up for YOU since that’s the most important thing of all.

And good picks on Nariko and Talim!

when will democrats be open minded enough to invite a republican to speak at their convention ?

Posted by admin on October 23rd, 2009 and filed under convention at | 15 Comments »

2004 yosemite sam spoke at republican convention and today sen joe lieberman a former dem veep candidate is going to speak why is it closed minded republicans are willing to give so floor time to the opposition but open minded dems will not ?

Representative Leach, a Republican, spoke at this year’s Democratic convention.

Also, Lieberman is NOT a Democrat, he only caucuses with them.

Next question.

Was it inappropriate for the GOP to parade Bristol Palin’s lifestyle at their convention?

Posted by admin on October 21st, 2009 and filed under convention at | 25 Comments »

Bristol Palin has chosen to have babies with young unmarried teen boys and then deny the baby a father. Is that really a lifestyle we should have highlighted at the GOP Convention? Wouldn’t it have been better to just let her learn morals and values in private?

It was the liberals who were making a big deal about it. All the Palins were doing was showing that they were not about to hide from the sleazy media and their liberal allies.

what is the typical fee for a workshop presenter at a large health convention? PS I am not well known.?

Posted by admin on October 19th, 2009 and filed under convention at | 2 Comments »

I will be presenting 4 workshops at a large health convention and I was wondering what the typical fee would be. Obviously, it depends on the demand of the presenter, popularity and notoriety. I am essentially an unknown in this scale of things but extremely good at what I do. Any ideas of what I can charge?

Since you are unknown = FREE
You can ask for travel reimbursement.

Can Clinton independently be elected vice-presidential nominee at the convention, instead of Obama’s choice?

Posted by admin on October 17th, 2009 and filed under convention at | 15 Comments »

I read that Mike Gravel tried to get elected as McGovern’s running mate in 1972, but he lost with a wide margin from McGovern’s choice. But if Clinton would try this at the convention, she might be successful. Of course it would make for a nightmare ticket instead of a dream ticket, but I am just wondering if the rules would allow for her to run for VP at the convention.

the rules certainly do allow for it, but i wouldn’t want to be the one to tell obama that his vp had been chosen for him……..

What exactly goes on at a Tattoo Convention?

Posted by admin on October 17th, 2009 and filed under convention at | 3 Comments »

There is a Tattoo Convention going on in my town a few weeks from now and I was thinking of going, but I’ve never been to one before. I have 3 tattoos right now, but I don’t plan on getting a tattoo there. My mom told me that there’s no point in going if you’re not getting a tattoo because that’s basically all it is – a bunch of people getting tattooed by great artists in one gathering. But I feel like maybe more goes on and I could have fun even though I won’t be getting a tattoo there.

So what goes on at a Tattoo Convention and should I go even though I’m not getting a tattoo? Also, can you go if you’re under 18?

I’ve been to a couple.

Laura is right that a lot is going on, but I’d like to emphasize that just because you aren’t getting a tattoo that there isn’t a good reason to go. I’ve gone to look at the portfolio of artists, less to find one and more to get ideas for work. Even if you don’t intend to have them work on you, a lot of artists like to talk (just do *not* ask for a sketch of proposed work, especially if you’re going to try to get another artist to do the work… that’s really rude).

There’s also a lot of miscellany there – t-shirt & various things of varying worth to spend money on, often bands, dancing maybe… it’s kinda all over the place, depending on the show.

As far as age, though… yeah, check ahead of time. You might need an adult with you if you’re not 18. At least a few conventions don’t mind letting you in if you’re younger, as long as you’re not alone. I think the one in SF was fine with almost any age, but anyone below about 15 had to have a parent attending at all times (older kids could wander).
