Explain the following components of a national party convention: a) keynote speaker b) committee reports c) nomination process d) balancing the ticket

I don’t have cable, and I’d like to see what they’re up to. Or at least listen to it on the TV radio. And does it start on Sunday or Monday? And what time are the keynote speakers? Thanks for the info!

Obama or Hillary? And if Hillary out shines Obama at the convention will that hurt Obama more than McCain?

Alright, so it’s my first year and I have a habit of not having the right things. Any idea on what I should take?

okay well I went last year to indianoplis for national convention and it was freezing cold and rained almost every day. our chapter is from new mexico so we weren’t used to the cold weather, but make sure you take a jacket, not just your ffa jacket. and depending what your advisor has planned for you, make sure you have comfortable shoes. and for official dress try to get thicker panty hose, they have some that look like tights and i’m pretty sure they saved my legs from freezing off! and take enough money if you have to pay for food and gifts…we stop at the Bass Pro Shop, St. Louis Arch, a diary farm, and the speedway.
and make sure you take a camera!

is it still important in determing the party’s presidential candidate and why? please elaborate I am so confused

It used to be that the Conventions actually did choose the candidate. There were no primaries. The party bigwigs got together and nominated someone. The people didn’t have as much of a say in who got elected as they do now. They just had to choose one of the two candidates who had been nominated at the Conventions. The primary system was instigated to give the people much more of a say in who got elected. At this point, they are just a formality, as far as the nomination is concerned. They do allow the candidate to make a televised speech to the American people, pitching his or her candidacy. That’s why there is usually a post-convention bounce in the polls, though it is often short-lived.

On all of her campaign stops, Palin has repeated almost the same exact script from the convention. I pretty much have it memorized by now. Can’t she think for herself and say something new?

She still won , For right now she won , you guys keep trying everything , she is the smartest and she will win. And the republicans know that

McCain is due to speak Monday (I believe) at the convention.
Given his past (i.e. being the Governor of the only state to deny the MLK holiday for years, etc) with the African American community, how uncomfortable will he be?

IMO, he’ll be about as comfortable as a prostitute in church!

Thoughts?

They should play him in with Public Enemy’s "By The Time I Get To Arizona." That would make him feel more comfortable.
