Implementing Food Hygiene Principles

Application of a food safety management system encourages the implementation of hygienic principles to protect consumers from illness or injury caused by food. Food Safety policies should consider the vulnerability of the consumer and effectively communicate the principles of food safety to interested parties and consumers to ensure that consumers have clear and easily-understood information. This can be by way of labelling and other appropriate means to enable consumers to protect their food from contamination and growth/survival of pathogens. Such information should include handling, preparation and storage instructions as well as clear use by date coding for perishable goods and clear ingredient listings including any allergens.
